The Beyondly team complete over 270K steps across 2 days & raise more than £900 for MS Trust and MND Association!
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we were unable to hold our annual team sporting challenge earlier in the year. This has meant that our chosen charities of the MS Trust and the Motor Neurone Disease Association have lost out on the funds we could have raised. To rectify this, we came up with a COVID safe solution to ensure we could still support these 2 amazing charities and their admirable work!
We arranged a new type of sporting challenge for our team to complete, which is in line with government regulations. On 17 and 18 November our employees split into two teams and were challenged to either walk or run their share of 130,000 steps over the course of a day, in line with the estimation that 130,000 people in the UK have multiple sclerosis (MS).
MS is a disease that affects the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord). The MS Trust is here for everyone affected by MS, from the moment they are diagnosed and throughout their journey, making sure a life with MS isn't a life defined by MS.
Our second chosen charity is the Motor Neurone Disease Association who focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for people affected by motor neurone disease. There is a 1 in 300 risk of getting Motor Neurone Disease across a lifetime. It is life-shortening disease and there is no cure. Although the disease will progress, symptoms can be managed to help achieve the best possible quality of life.
This year has been a struggle for everyone, especially charity groups, which is why it's so important that we aim to support them in any way we can.
We achieved the steps target and more!
Collectively, across the full team, we completed 272,070 steps during the two-day period and raised £931 in total which has been split between both of our chosen charities.
A big thank you to everybody who donated towards the cause; family, friends, members and partners. Your support is much appreciated and we’re so pleased we have been able to help these amazing charities amidst a very difficult year.
