Member Focus: Environmental compliance for support charity Sue Ryder
The national healthcare charity, Sue Ryder, switched providers to join Comply Direct’s packaging compliance scheme in 2021
We are thrilled to help a charity so close to our hearts at Comply Direct, to fulfil their environmental obligations. Sue Ryder is one of Comply Direct’s chosen charities and we have supported and fundraised for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Keighley since 2013.
Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness or the loss of a loved one – they are there when it matters. For over 65 years its doctors, nurses and carers have given people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can. They take the time to understand what’s important to people and give them choice and control over their care. For some this may mean specialist care in one of our centres, whilst others might need support in their own home. Read more about Sue Ryder’s vital work here.
In 2020, Sue Ryder was looking for a new packaging compliance scheme for the 2021 compliance year and following an extensive tender process, they chose to partner with Comply Direct to ensure their compliance with the UK packaging waste regulations.
After initially joining our scheme, Sue Ryder’s Head of Retail Operations commented on the positive experience they have already had working with us so far:
“We are delighted to be working with Comply Direct; the support we have received from the team has been terrific.
I look forward to developing my knowledge in packaging compliance and perhaps developing our work with Comply Direct in other areas. I would like to personally thank all the wonderful fundraising support that the team has given to Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Keighley.”
Some of the fundraising activities Comply Direct have participated in for Sue Ryder’s Manorlands Hospice in Keighley include a sponsored 28 mile walk in the Yorkshire Dales and fancy-dress days in the office where staff donated money for the privilege. In addition, a few members of the Comply Direct team individually volunteer for Sue Ryder on a regular basis and have organised charity fun days in aid of the hospice, as well as multiple other events and initiatives to raise funds. Comply Direct encourage their full team to take part in volunteering and offer employee release so staff can support local charities. Volunteering has wellbeing benefits and ensures the company is giving back to the local community.
