Environment Agency release the fully verified recycling data for Q2 2019
On Friday 9 August the Environment Agency released the verified recycling data for Q2 2019
Figure 1 and 2 below show the updated recycling levels with and without carry in since our initial analysis of the unverified Q2 data release, which can be found HERE
There has been little change to the initial progress we saw upon the original unverified data release in July. However, due to the volatile nature of the current PRN market, it is important to regularly review the figures because they are the single biggest driver of PRN prices in the UK.

In summary, the theme in the PRN market remains the same with good recycling performance experienced within Paper, Wood, Glass and Steel meaning these materials should be on track to hit their own material specific recycling targets comfortably by the end of 2019. This indicates that there should also be enough surplus PRNs available for the UK to hits its ‘General Recycling’ target. Plastic and Aluminium on the other hand remain behind target; the strong market volatility and price uncertainty around these materials has and will continue right until the end of the year.
We recently ran a webinar including an in-depth analysis of the recycling data, as well as providing a market and pricing update. This can be found in the Resource Room area of our website. We are also holding another update webinar on 3 September 2019 at 10am to further update all members on the PRN market and pricing. You can register your free place on the webinar HERE.
